Dr. Sujata Sirsat is a writer and scholar in the area of food safety, public health, and disparities. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership. She received her masters degree from Texas A&M University and doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas. She has published over 45 peer-reviewed journal articles and 4 book chapters. Dr. Sirsat has been awarded more than $3 million in competitive grant funds from agencies such as U.S. Department of Agriculture and Texas Department of Agriculture to enhance food safety practices in retail, restaurant, small farms and farmers’ markets. Her research interests are food safety, food insecurity, and disparities. She teaches Food Safety and Foodservice Management (at the undergraduate level) and Grant Writing (at the doctorate level).
